In 1981, the Mexican artist group Colectivo 3—formed by Aarón Flores, Araceli Zúñiga, Blanca Noval Vilar, and César Espinosa—issued an open call for contributions to a collaborative artwork titled Poema Colectivo Revolución. Inspired by the 1979 Sandinista-led uprising in Nicaragua, the group sought to produce a “collective poem” about revolution, inviting artists and writers to submit their responses to this open-ended prompt on copies of the same letter-size sheet of paper. Published alongside an exhibition of the nearly four hundred replies, this illustrated booklet includes an essay by artist Luis Camnitzer on the project, contextualizing it within the history of Latin American mail art. The booklet’s pages are meant to be ripped, mimicking the experience of opening a piece of mail.
